What’s in a Name?

When you gain the summit of Big Agnes Mountain, take a good look to the north. A lush, high alpine meadow with a small stream appears about a mile away. This is the headwaters of the Encampment River; miles downstream it turns from a high-mountain stream to one of the most scenic Class V wilderness runs in the country. But before that it meanders through a scenic canyon full of trout. Shhhhhh.
