What’s in a Name?
Elmer Baer and his wife Cora were among the early pioneers to the Steamboat Springs area. They built their Suit-Sus cabin right along Fish Creek, where townsfolk would net thousands of graylings to salt as food for the long, cold winters. The Baer Family was very active in constructing many of the buildings and homes in downtown Steamboat Springs and their legacy continues to live on in the Yampa valley today.
