Nuts & Bolts

Corporate Social Responsibility

We think a good cup of coffee is essential in the backcountry - Andrew Burr

Big Agnes Is Committed

We're a small company with the mountains just minutes from our door step. Being so close to the outdoors makes us appreciate our environment and the need to protect it every time we run, ski, climb, ride or hike.

Below are some of the ways we work towards being a more environmentally and socially responsible company:

  • We offer several bags, pads and tents that use up to 100% recycled content materials. We also try whenever possible to choose environmentally sensitive manufacturing processes; such as the cleaner anodizing process that is used on every one of our DAC aluminum tent poles.
  • We believe in alternative energy sources and purchase 100% wind generated power for our offices and warehouse. In addition, company co-founder Bill Gamber has lived off the grid using solar power for 15 years and recently installed a wind turbine.
  • We work with our manufacturers to manage container shipments and decrease the resource demands required in transportation. All of our sleeping bag packaging and cartons contain up to 80% recycled content.
  • We reuse or recycle corrugated boxes, paper, cans and bottles, and encourage our staff to commute by bicycle, skateboard, foot and ski.
  • This catalog and all of our marketing materials are produced using recycled paper and environmentally sensitive inks at Colorado Printing Company; who has earned the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification from the Rainforest Alliance.

Big Agnes strongly believes in giving back to the outdoor community and supports these Non-Profit Organizations

Big Agnes Fair Labor Project

Big Agnes works closely with its manufacturing partners to ensure that all workers in our supply chain are treated fairly and work in safe environments. We have adopted the Outdoor Industry Association's Fair Labor Code of Conduct and ask each of our manufacturers to abide by this code. The Code of Conduct outlines standards to ensure that working conditions in the outdoor industry supply chain are safe, that workers are treated with respect and dignity, and that manufacturing processes are environmentally responsible. The following requirements are of particular importance:

Compliance with Laws and Workplace Regulations related to:

  • Prohibition of Forced Labor
  • Prohibition of Child Labor
  • Prohibition of Harassment or Abuse
  • Compensation and Benefits
  • Hours of Work
  • Prohibition of Discrimination
  • Health and Safety
  • Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining
  • Environment
